Lapeer County Library will offer a Walk to the Oakdale Cemetery, with Special Guests presenting their new book.! To sign up contact the Marguerite deAngeli Branch phone: 810 664-6971. We begin at 6 pm at the library with a 50 minute history and book presentation then about 7 pm we will carpool to the parking area located near the railroad tracks behind Chatfield School. Our hike begins there walking a total of about 1 1/2 miles. Not handicap or stroller accessible, dress for the weather. See you there!

Master Gardener Meeting from 6:30pm to 8:30pm for a 1 hour educational Wild Edibles for the Fall presentation. Chestnuts, Shagbark Hickory Nuts, Crab Apple and Peach juice, Butternut Squash with Honey Chestnuts, White Pine and Corn Silk tea all ready for the tasting! Enjoyed every minute!!!

Rain Barrel Workshop and Introduction to Square Foot Gardens. Purchase a Rain Barrel and learn about Square Foot Gardens. Both are fun and easy to make with the added benefit of gardening in a very small space and receive a bounty of food for your table. Supply Fee for the Rain Barrel workshop. May 21, Saturday, "Wild Lapeer " An Earth Day Celebration, 11:00 AM to 4:00 PM Visit the Back Track To Nature booth see a Rain Barrel display with directions to make your own. Kids will receive a free starter compost in a bottle and "how to" directions to begin composting at home. A GREAT SUCCESS!! THANK YOU TO ALL WHO ATTENDED!! women of any age who would like a chance to enjoy nature in a safe environment. We will learn some of the “old ways” of living. We will meet for a series 5 programs, one afternoon per month, beginning in June through October. Dress for the weather, rain or shine, we will be outside for this program. Bring a sack dinner, water bottle and journal for notes. (For the Cooking Outdoors session, no need for a sack dinner. Location: TBA
Composting, Lets Feed Worms!! This program will focus on the process of composting, introducing the worm bin for you home and making Worm Tea. Worm bin starter kit, procedure for keeping your worm bin working, and releasing the worms to your garden! Cost is $12.00 for each family; includes the worm bin and worms.
Picnic with Nature. In the wild outdoors!! Enjoy your picnic lunch in a serene and safe area. we will walk about the wetlands and prairies. We will look for signs of wildlife, butterflies, frogs, insects and birds. Bring a blanket, picnic lunch, water bottles. Sponsored by Lapeer Land Conservancy and Back Track To Nature. Free.

Natural Composting for Your Garden. At the Tibbits Nature Center. Discussion and hands on demonstrations of how to compost your garden with natural matter....seaweed anyone?
Clark Tibbits will lead us through this informative discussion, bring your gloves we will get our hands right into the composting and show you how its done! Meet at the Tibbits Nature Center pavilion.
